Serum Biochemical Changes in Insulin Dependent and Non-Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus and their Role in the Development of Secondary Complications
نویسنده
چکیده
Fasting blood glucose, triglyceride, cholesterol, lipoprotein cholesterol, phospholipids, total lipids, uronic acid, total amino acids, glycated serum proteins, fructosamine, copper and zinc levels were determined in insulin-dependent diabetics (IDDs) non-insulin dependent diabetics (NIDDs). Appreciable hyperglycaemia and hypertriglycerideamia was noticed in all diabetics. IDDM females exhibited an increase in total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and triglycerides, as compared to their age and sex matched controls. In poorly controlled diabetics (fasting blood sugar > 140 mg%) a significant increase in total cholesterol, very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) cholesterol, triglycerides and total lipids was noticed. Glycated serum proteins and fructosamine were significantly higher in diabetics, more so in the poorly controlled group. Serum uronic acid and total amino acids were appreciably higher in diabetics, the latter being much higher in IDDM group. Serum copper was higher in diabetics, female NIDDM group showing highest values. Serum zinc levels were lower in diabetics as compared to controls.

Dental damages in non-insulin dependent diabetes patients
Introduction: Changes in saliva and its biochemical content in diabetic patients can effect on supportive dental tissues and cause dental damage. Low carbohydrate diets, and good control of disease can reduce dental damage in diabetics. The aim of this study was to compare dental damage in patients with non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) patients and healthy individuals. Methods: ...
متن کاملبررسی اثرات انسولین برمیزان فعالیت آنزیم سرمی و بافتی مبدل آنژیوتانسین I (ACE) در رت دیابتی شده
Background: The precise mechanisms of vascular diseases in insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) are not clearly understood. There are evidences of alteration in mechanisms involved in regulating vascular tone including increased ACE activity in some tissues. To investigate the effect of insulin treatment on these changes this study was performed. Methods: Three groups of 8 male Spraug...
متن کاملInsulin effect on Leptin Concentration in Children with New Onset Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus
Objective: Serum Leptin concentration reflects the body fat mass. There is controversial reports about the insulin effect on serum Leptin concentration. We wanted to examine the effect of insulin therapy on serum Leptin in children with new onset type I diabetes. Materials and Methods: This was a Cross-Sectional study in Children's Medical Center on 34 children who had new onset type I diabe...
متن کاملAssociation of adiponectin gene rs2241766 polymorphism with serum adiponectin level, Insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes mellitus in an Iranian population
Introdution: Adiponectin is a peptide secreted from fat cells that plays an important role in the development of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. A number of single nucleotide polymorphisms in the adiponectin gene are associated with lower adiponectin expression and T2DM. The aim of this study was to determination the frequency of rs 2241766 polymorphism in adiponectin gene and its relat...
